Visual Studio 2012 Compatiblity

28 August 2012

Microsoft released their new Visual Studio 2012 development environment August 15, 2012. Here is some useful information for developers regarding CRYPTO-BOX support.

C++ developers:

For implementing the CRYPTO-BOX via our static CBIOS library (32 and 64bit) please use the version for Visual Studio 2005 which is available in the latest Protection Kit 5.75.

You will find the libraries in the Control Center under "Software Protection with Smarx API for Developers" -> "Windows". In the table of samples, check "C/C++" option to get the CBIOS libraries for Visual Studio 2005, which will work fine under Visual Studio 2012.

IMPORTANT
If you plan to use the Remote Update API: the static rfp.lib for VS2005 is currently not compatible to VS2012, an update will be released along with the upcoming Protection Kit 5.80 in about 2 weeks.

C#.NET developers:

To implement the CRYPTO-BOX under C# using our CBIOS4NET interface please use the NET4 libraries from the latest Protection Kit 5.75.
You will find them in the Control Center under "Software Protection with Smarx API for Developers" -> "Windows". In the table of samples, check ".NET" option and select the libraries for .NET4.

IMPORTANT
To access the CBIOS4NET libraries with your application, the latest VC Redistributable Package from Microsoft needs to be installed on the target system! Otherwise you will get an error that the CBIOS4NET library cannot be loaded. For more details, please refer to the readme file in the folder with the .NET4 libraries.
