AutoCrypt Overview

Selection of the appropriate AutoCrypt variant

With AutoCrypt, applications can be protected quickly and securely. Neither intervention in the source code nor programming knowledge is required. It wraps any existing executable file with a secure layer of protection, including compression and encryption of the original code.

AutoCrypt offers a wide range of protection and licensing options that allow you to implement creative distribution strategies. This includes, for example, expiration date, execution counter, periodic checking of protection, setting passwords, network support and much more.

AutoCrypt is available in three verisions:

AutoCrypt Wizard

This is the easiest and fastest way to protect your Windows applications (.exe and .dll files).
The Wizard guides you through all the steps - from application protection to CRYPTO-BOX configuration and remote updates (optional). The project file can also be exported to be used with our command line tools to automate the protection process.

If you are looking for a fast protection solution that still supports all the important features, AutoCrypt Wizard is the right choice.

A detailed step-by-step guide to AutoCrypt Wizard can be found here.

AutoCrypt SxAF

This solution is less intuitive to use compared to AutoCrypt Wizard. However, the SxAF offers additional licensing options, such as support for Product Editions, as well as an integrated database with project and end-user management.

If you need this addtional features, AutoCrypt SxAF is the right choice for you.

A detailed guide to AutoCrypt SxAF can be found here.

Command Line Tools (AC_Tool, SmrxProg)

The command line tools make sense especially if you need more flexibility, such as automation of the protection process or connection to your existing distribution system.
For example, the protection process can be called and controlled from external applications. The project information is available in the form of XML files that can be exported from AutoCrypt Wizard or AutoCrypt SxAF, or dynamically generated from your own applications.

While AC_Tool takes care of application protection, SmrxProg is used to configure (format) the CRYPTO-BOX with the desired license information.

More details about the command line tools can be found here.
